The roots of American Oil & Gas Company, date back to1925 when the City of Fort Collins was formed. “Buddy” Bill Morris offered the first Service in the heating oil business with a 55 gallon barrel strapped to the back of his truck.
          
In 1952, Bill Morris sold his business to Jack Davis, my Dad.  The early days were very lean, and numerous heating fuel jobbers were competing with each other.  At one time the company had one driver, one office person and Dad.  Through hard work and summer road oiling, the company survived and grew. 

In 1964, American Oil & Gas Company merged with Smith Oil who was a Chevron commissioned agent who distributed gasoline, diesel, and lubricants. The combination kept drivers and trucks busy in the winter and summer. 

In 1980, a severe winter storm hit Fort Collins and American Oil & Gas became a 7-day-a-week, 24-hours-per-day, on-call deliverer to the farmers and ranches in the area.

We currently own and operate 11 convenience store and gas station operations and have 15 CFN cardlocks. We have 2 lubricant warehouses, and 4 bulk plants. We employ 125 people and operate over 50 pieces of equipment. We sell Chevron, 76, and Shell branded gasoline to dealer service stations, and Chevron, Mobil, and Shell commercial lubricants. We purchase and deliver diesel fuels every day out of Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor, Colorado.  We have won various service and sales recognitions and awards for Chevron, and Shell.

Our mission statement is to “Meet our customers’ reasonable expectations, with no surprises and no disappointments.”  We are proud to work with a group of people who are very good at their jobs and are very nice people. We try hard to create a working environment where we operate like a small-family run business but can still offer the services and competitiveness of a large company. We are very diversified and love to solve problems for our customers. We invoice  electronically and will continue to grow our e-business capabilities.
